Over the past 5 years or so, our family has taken steps to clean up our eating and overall nutrition. In our industry – my husband & I are both trainers & own a fitness management company - it’s especially important to have a good handle on both fitness & nutrition and how they affect the body. So I felt pretty good about our overall health. But in the past year, I read more and more about issues with the gut and how poor gut health can lead to chronic inflammation and auto immune diseases. It also seemed that the more I read, the more I learned that these things are impacted directly by specific foods. In January, I saw that Betsy was beginning a cleanse group and after talking with her, I felt like this was a good opportunity for me to do an experiment on myself. I wanted to find out how my body would react if I excluded wheat and dairy and refined sugar. But needed some help in figuring out just how to do that. So I signed up. In 21 days, I lost 6 pounds and dropped 5% in my body fat percentage. I’ve found that I really like the changes that I made and am continuing with the program – with a splurge here and there, of course!
